The Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB), along with the region's winegrowers and wine merchants, wishes you an exceptional 2025 -dedicated to lightness and sustainability!
This year, our ecological commitment deepens with an ambitious goal: achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. One of the key initiatives is reducing bottle weight, a significant lever for change. With support from the BIVB, the entire industry is working to lower the average weight of Bourgogne wine bottles from 559 g to under 400 g, without compromising wine quality.
By increasing the use of recycled glass, this transition significantly reduces the carbon footprint of production while maintaining the hallmark excellence of Bourgogne wines.
In 2025, we will celebrate the Climats of the Bourgogne vineyard, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a grand series of events.
Over 30 events will bring the villages, towns, vineyards, and iconic monuments of the region to life, honoring the richness of these terroirs and the unique history of this exceptional wine-growing area.
Discover the program (in French only) for this exceptional year, offering a wide range of shows, walks, unusual visits, artistic encounters, and tastings. These events will allow everyone to discover the Climats from a new perspective and celebrate this exceptional heritage.
Historic partners such as the Hospices de Beaune, the Château du Clos de Vougeot, and the cultural venue La Karrière will be part of the celebration, alongside players from the community, wine, and sports world.

Chablis invites you to join in its own Saint-Vincent Tournante celebrations
Experience an exceptional celebration of these emblematic Bourgogne white wines, held in Fontenay-près-Chablis!
The Saint-Vincent Tournante of Chablis returns for its 54th edition on February 1st and 2nd, in the charming village of Fontenay-près-Chablis.
A not-to-be-missed event celebrating the wines and winemaking expertise of this emblematic Bourgogne region, where you can discover the treasures of the Chablis region and enjoy a convivial occasion.
Highlights for Visitors: - Tasting Trail: A specially designed route to explore the diverse cuvées of the Chablis region. - Festive Activities: Including parades, musical performances, and exhibitions showcasing local history and craftsmanship. - Welcoming Atmosphere: A convivial and authentic setting where wine enthusiasts and professionals gather to celebrate the wines of Chablis.
On mid-January, the Chablis Office and the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) organized the 39th Chablis Wine Competition, chaired by Marie Wodecki, Best Young Sommelier of France 2023.
The 72 jury members evaluated 289 samples: The 2023 vintage for the Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Chablis Premier Cru appellations, and the 2022 vintage for the Chablis Grand Cru AOC.
After a rigorous selection process, 19 medals were awarded. This prestigious competition upholds strict tasting criteria: the wines are judged in two stages.
The samples with the highest scores in the first round, which involves all the tasters (journalists, restaurateurs, sommeliers, brokers, oenologists, winegrowers, or knowledgeable enthusiasts), then face a Super Jury, the only body authorized to award the medals.
Bourgogne Wines invite their markets to look beyond preconceptions
The Bourgogne wine industry is unveiling its latest export initiative for 2025, aptly titled Take a Closer Look. This campaign invites media and professionals worldwide to look beyond the myth of Bourgogne and its iconic appellations and wine estates.
Over the past two decades, the quality of Bourgogne wines has improved across the board, from Régionale to Grand Cru AOCs. However, fluctuating harvest volumes have impacted prices, particularly for the rarest wines.
In response, the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) aims to shine a brighter spotlight on the diversity of its appellations, emphasizing lesser-known wines with strong potential and availability. The goal is to meet consumer demand for more accessible wines that still reflect the rich history and expertise of Bourgogne.
The campaign kicks off with press and influencer workshops in South Korea (February 24–25), Australia (February 27), and Brazil (May 13 and 15). At each event, journalists and influencers will be invited to: - Explore the diversity of Bourgogne through the lens of Chablis. While Chablis may appear straightforward—one color, one grape variety, and exclusively dry white wines — this simplicity belies a wealth of nuances. From Petit Chablis to Chablis Grand Cru, the wines span 20 villages with diverse terroirs and exposures. - Discover lesser-known, more accessible appellations that still embody the quality and distinctive character of Bourgogne wines. These include Bourgogne and Mâcon plus a geographical denomination (aka Bourgogne+ and Mâcon+) offering an introduction to the concept of terroir, as well as less famous Village appellations that have long been overshadowed by their celebrated neighbors (e.g., Auxey-Duresses next to Meursault).
Following these initial actions, extensive training sessions for professionals will take place in these countries, as well as in key markets like the United States, Canada, and Japan.
