Against this backdrop, Bourgogne wines seem to be marking time, both because of a shortage of wine (volumes of the 2022 vintage are gradually coming onto the market from summer 2023) and because of the choices made by some households. The volumes for 2022 and 2023 should lead to an easing of the market and facilitate trade.
2024 is likely to be a slow year, as the political decisions of 2023 continue to have a strong impact on the Canadian economy, according to Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem.

Despite a faster-than-expected recovery at the start of the year, Great Britain is the only G7 member not to have returned to its pre-pandemic level of economic activity. And there are other indicators worrying economists: inflation remains high, as do interest rates on loans which are making people poorer and exacerbating pessimism for businesses.

As we wait for the new rules related to Brexit to be introduced, the UK increased its wine imports in 2020, up 8.3% by volume and 1.2% in terms of revenue compared to 2019. This was particularly beneficial for French wines.

Revenue from sales of Bourgogne wines rose by 1.7% in 2020 to €67.9 million. This is a record figure that comes after 2019, which already showed strong growth, up 8% on 2018.
