Discover the Saint-Bris appellation
Saint-Bris is the only Village appellation from Bourgogne to be produced from the Sauvignon grape.
Saint-Bris-le-Vineux is located in the heart of the Auxerrois winegrowing region on the right bank of the Yonne, a stone’s throw from Auxerre. This appellation is unique in that it produces exclusively white wines from the Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris varietals which, on Bourgogne terroir, result in dry, light, vigorous, and very enjoyable white wines.
The best plots are on north-facing slopes which ensures the fruit achieves ideal maturity.
Saint-Bris wines offer citrussy notes of grapefruit and mandarin, along with aromas of peach and crushed blackberry leaf, sometimes with a tropical touch of lychee. This complexity results in a broad, floral fruitiness with a touch of spice and salinity on the finish. Over time, Saint-Bris wines evolve to offer more candied, cooked fruit aromas. They can be enjoyed in their youth or after a few years.
Sommelier’s tip:
Sauvignon wine from Bourgogne is quite remarkable because it develops a wonderful aromatic range making it a lively, dashing wine, perfect with oysters and other shellfish. When enjoyed as an aperitif, its minerality titillates the taste buds. It’s amazing with goat cheese, but its vigor also brings a zing to any fish dish and particularly Nordic specialties. This appellation also makes a great match with spicy dishes flavored with curry or saffron.
Serving temperature: 8-10°C as an aperitif, 10-12°C with food.

A webinar to discover or rediscover Pinot Noir
On 7 March, WSET is organizing a 30-minute webinar dedicated to the Pinot Noir grape in partnership with the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB).
Ina Finn, Official Bourgogne Wines Ambassador, will present the history and characteristics of this grape, which is at the heart of the production of red wines from Bourgogne. The event will be a perfect opportunity to ask questions about the varietal and the Bourgogne terroir where it thrives.
It was presided over by Bourgogne wine expert, Jasper Morris.
This year, the 71-strong jury tasted the 2021 vintage of the Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Chablis Premier Cru AOCs, and the 2020 vintage of the Chablis Grand Cru AOC. They picked 24 winners from 259 submissions. There were fewer entrants this year, due to the low volumes harvested in 2021.
All the winners can be found in the press release here
Work goes on at the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne
The opening of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne network is drawing closer, and the major construction work is almost finished.
As we wait for the completion of the three cités in Mâcon, Beaune, and Chablis, in spring 2023, some new videos are now available, revealing the key stages in the construction of the three sites.
The Cité in Chablis
The Cité de Chablis sits in the heart of the village, a stone’s throw from the vines. It is located in the historic Cellier du Petit Pontigny buildings.
Bourguignon architect Claude Correia from Atelier Correia Architectes & Associés renovated this cozy 12th-century construction, enhancing it with a contemporary 80m² extension.
The Cité in Beaune
The Rougeot Group demonstrated some incredible technical prowess with this 24-meter-high gem of a building. With its 2,000-ton spiral construction, it is another example of eco-responsible building thanks to an ecological approach that is part of a more global take on sustainable tourism.
The Cité in Mâcon
With its majestic screw press construction, the cité de Mâcon stands like a beacon on the banks of the Saône and is perfectly integrated into the urban space. With a tower standing 14 meters high, it offers some exceptional views over this beautiful landscape.
