Explore Bourgogne from top to bottom via our “Bourgogne Road Trip” video series
This new video series invites you on a delicious road trip to explore the 13 geographical denominations of the Bourgogne AOC.
Since 30 March, the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) has dropped a new video every Wednesday at 6pm France time across its social media channels. Your tour guides are Marie and Alain, from the Destination Camping-Car YouTube channel, and they explore a new “Bourgogne Plus” wine in each episode. They meet winegrowers, visit villages, and explore the cultural richness of each terroir. Local gastronomy is all part of the package as they discover local cheeses and other specialties to pair with each wine.
Each episode lasts around seven minutes and combines interviews and beautiful footage to present the history and characteristics of the terroir and the character of the wines produced there.
These four innovative workshops will offer a visual, audio, and gustatory experience at prices ranging from €20-€29 and lasting between 40 minutes and one hour. Each one can welcome up to 18 participants and all the courses are open to people with mobility issues. Bookings open in April.

The patron of this latest edition of the Tastevinage was writer Daniel Picouly, whose most recent book, "Les Larmes du Vin", published in January by Éditions Albin Michel, evokes the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, and in particular his induction as a Knight.
In this Mecca of Bourgogne viticulture and heritage, the expert palates of the 100-strong jury, comprising winemakers, sommeliers, restaurateurs, négociants, buyers, journalists, and influencers, sampled 442 wines, presented anonymously.
Given the changing rules regarding social gatherings, the tasting was given a new format and held in the Grand Cellier Cistercian, ensuring a convivial welcome for the panel.
A total of 147 wines received the Tastevinage seal; one third of all the wines submitted. They included 50 Régionale appellations, 61 Village wines, 33 Village Premier Cru, and three Grand Cru appellations.
Join us at the Operaterrassen from 10:30am to noon for an exploration of lesser-known Village appellations, and from 1:30pm to 3pm for a trip into the universe of the Climats de Bourgogne.
Official Bourgogne Wines Trainer Michel Jamais will be hosting both sessions, which will help you find out more about our appellations.
- 4.5 hours of tastings where participants can sample wines with their producers or négociants who will be presenting those bottles that offer an excellent quality/price/pleasure ratio
- Press conference
- Two educational workshops; one dedicated to Régionale appellations plus a geographical denomination, and the other to the Climats of Chablis Premier Cru.
You can also taste wines at your will at three themed tables: One for the Crémant de Bourgogne appellation, another offering a selection of lesser-known Village appellations, and a third promoting wines that bear the name of a Climat on their label.
This action-packed day will offer an unmissable opportunity for networking.
The “Bourgogne Homecoming” day allows US industry stakeholders to meet with producers of Bourgogne wines and widen out their understanding through the educational workshops on offer.

Like a day out in Bourgogne, this event will help participants reconnect with the industry and take the time to sample some wines.
This is a great opportunity for industry stakeholders to meet up with more than 30 Bourgogne wine producers and négociants. Over the space of one day, they can network with industry contacts over a tasting, and discover some wines with an exceptional quality/price/pleasure ratio.
The event runs from 10:30am to 6pm and will include a tasting in the presence of around 50 producers and a press conference. There will also be a choice of two workshops: One exploring 10 Climats from the Chablis Premier Cru appellation, and the other examining the Crémant de Bourgogne appellation.
The Saint-Véran AOC, is one of the five Village appellations of the Mâconnais region with Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Pouilly–Loché and Viré-Clessé.
Saint-Véran was established 50 years again 1971. It is split into two islands, separated by Pouilly Fuissé. Today, the AOC covers more than 740 hectares from the north and the Roche de Solutré, Prissé, and Davayé, down to Leynes, Chasselas, Chânes, some of Solutré-Pouilly, and of course Saint-Vérand in the south. This land, so well-suited to the Chardonnay grape, produces only white wines.
Sommelier’s tips
The wines of the Saint-Véran appellation have a very light, dazzling, crystalline, pale golden yellow color. On the nose, they offer subtle aromas of peach and pear, along with hints of white blossom like acacia and honeysuckle, and often notes of fresh almond, hazelnut, cinnamon, butter, and sometimes honey.
In the mouth, this is a smooth and dry wine, with a certain minerality. It is lively right from the attack. Acidity and fattiness complement one another in a crescendo, resulting in a wine with a harmonious and fresh structure, with vinosity and body.
When served with food, the attack is clear and forthright, with notes of citrus. This requires dishes that can temper its ardor somewhat. Fatty fish, either poached or fried, would play the part with finesse, while the minerality of the Saint-Véran appellation and its floral aromatic range would respond majestically to the iodine flavors and the fine flesh of the fish. Other seafood-based dishes would also make a magical match, such as a seafood risotto, or even a mushroom one, whose melting texture would be well supported by the lemony presence of the wine. The Saint-Véran appellation is also good with goat cheeses, Bleu de Bresse, Comté, Beaufort, and any kind of Gruyère.
Buoyed by strong results, the Bourgogne wine sector faces many challenges.
After a record year in terms of revenue in 2021, the economic situation for Bourgogne wines might seem enviable. Nonetheless, some major challenges lie ahead.
* Stocks available at the property, which were impacted by the low 2021 harvest and under pressure from sustained demand, were well below the average for the last five campaigns.
* As a result, transactions in the first six months of the 2021-2022 campaign (advance market) were down 34% compared to transactions for the 2020 vintage (down 24% on the six-month average over the last five campaigns).
* On the export market, Bourgogne wines set a new record in terms of revenue in 2021, generating more than one billion euros in revenue for the third consecutive year (1.32 billion, up 28% over 2020), with the equivalent of 105 million 75cl bottles exported (up 18% over 2020).
* In France, Bourgogne wines continued to grow in the supermarket sector (up 4.3% by volume over 2020) and set a record in terms of revenue (up 8.2% over 2020), despite the overall context being generally negative. Meanwhile, the more traditional distribution circuits returned to favorable levels of activity for Bourgogne wines, with many specialized wine stores having remained open during 2020.
The results for 2022 will depend on the ability of the Bourgogne wine sector to supply its markets and respond to multiple consumer expectations, not forgetting Covid-19, which comes in waves, and the consequences of the geopolitical situation and its impact on inflation.
Bourgogne vs. Burgundy: to re-affirm their identity, the region and the producers are reverting back to the original French iteration of the name, Bourgogne.
