This week-end: Two key press events with the Bourgogne wine industry

15/11/2019

Beside the auction, the Hospices de Beaune weekend brings wine information

The representatives of the Bourgogne wine industry are particularly keen to welcome you to two events to discuss all the latest news, including an update on the 2019 vintage, a snapshot of the market, and a status report on the Cité des Vins de Bourgogne project. There’s plenty to discuss!

Friday 15 November: 147th Fête des Grands vins de Bourgogne au Palais des Congrès

[From 9:30 at the Palais des Congrès in Beaune]
A unique tasting of around 3,000 Bourgogne wines
The 147th Fête des Grands Vins de Bourgogne brings together 700 producers, estates, and co-ops to present their latest vintage. The Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) and the Confederation of Bourgogne Appellations and Winemakers (CAVB) are delighted to invite you to this extraordinary tasting in a single location, with the Friday morning tasting reserved for press and trade only.
All morning, the BIVB’s press service will be on hand to greet you in person, and present you with your tasting glass and catalogue.
If you’d like to schedule an interview or discussion with an industry representative, send us a request by email to cecile.mathiaud@bivb.com or mathilde.paturaud@bivb.com, or ask us on the day.

[11am - Special press tasting]
You are invited to this exclusive event to sample the wines from three appellations and discuss them with their producers.

  • Gevrey-Chambertin, which will be hosting the 76th Saint-Vincent Tournante de Bourgogne, on 25 and 26 January 2020
  • Montagny
  • Crémant de Bourgogne

Sunday 17 November: Bourgogne wines press conference

[10am for the first time at the market hall, via door B - where the auction takes place in the afternoon]
We will be discussing two hotly-anticipated topics at this event:

Industry representatives François Labet, President of the BIVB; Louis-Fabrice Latour, Co-President; Thiebault Huber, President of Winegrowing at the CAVB; and Gilles de Larouzière, Board Member of trade at the UMVGB, will be presenting the latest news, including:

  • The quality of the 2019 vintage, with an estimation of the actual volumes
  • The market situation
  • The actuality of the production (Dry January coming to France, what about the pesticides, the industry looking for workers…)
  • The Cité des vins et des Climats de Bourgogne museography and calendar

This press conference will start with François Poher, Director of the Hospices de Beaune; Ludivine Griveau, winemaker at the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune; representatives of the two charitable organizations that have been selected to benefit from the sale of the Pièce des Présidents, and Alain Suguenot, Mayor of Beaune and President of the Board of the Hospices de Beaune.

The auction starts at 2:30pm
in the market hall in Beaune

Journalists will be admitted on presentation of their badge via door B
