On Friday the 6th of September last, 155 tasting-judges gathered at the Château du Clos de Vougeot for the 114th Tastevinage, chaired on this occasion by Philippe Faure-Brac, World’s Best Sommelier in 1992 and Meilleur Ouvrier de France Honoris Causa 2015.
430 wines from the Greater Burgundy Wine Region, extending from the Beaujolais Crus to Chablis, were represented in this autumn session. Out of this grand total, only 138 wines (32.09%), deemed the most representative of their appellation and vintage, were singled out by the jury for the Tastevinage Seal of Approval.
Of the 138 Laureates :
- 53 were Regional Appellations
- 49 were Village Appellations
- 36 were Premier or Grand Cru Appellation

Created in 1950 by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, the Tastevinage is a label which selects the most representative of the great Burgundy wines, from Chablis to Beaujolais crus.
Composed of a jury of experts from the wine industry: winemakers, traders, brokers, sommeliers, oenologists, distributors and journalists, the Tastevinage consists of a meticulous examination where each wine is tasted blindly in order to preserve the wine. impartiality of jurors. After this selection, the seal of Tastevinage is awarded to wines that best define the character of their appellation and their vintage, the sign of a guarantee of authenticity and pleasure for the consumer.
