Cave de Prestige 2026: 188 wines, 140 producers, one unmistakable Bourgogne!

The 55th edition of the Bourgogne Wine Board’s Cave de Prestige honoured 140 wine estates, négociants and Coop cellars at its annual awards ceremony on 15 July. This highly selective collection showcases wines that embody the exacting standards, diversity and expertise of Bourgogne’s winegrowers and producers. For the next 12 months, they will feature prominently in the Bourgogne Wine Board’s promotional, educational and outreach activities, both in France and around the world.

The 2026 Line-Up: 188 Ways to Express Bourgogne 

The Cave de Prestige awards ceremony is a much-anticipated date in the Bourgogne wine calendar. It marks a defining moment: the point at which the selected cuvées officially become ambassadors for Bourgogne wines for the year ahead.

From Wine Paris and influencer partnerships to webinars for key wine professionals, international training seminars and press events, the wines will take centre stage in a truly global showcase.

More than 120 wine professionals gathered at the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne in Beaune on Wednesday to celebrate the 55th edition of the Cave de Prestige.
A total of 188 wines were selected from 1,491 entries, representing a particularly stringent selection rate of just 12.6%.

The 2026 collection features 140 producers out of the 340 that entered. This year’s results also highlight the vitality and constant renewal of the Bourgogne wine region: 33 producers are either appearing in the selection for the first time or returning after an absence dating back to 2017. Together, they account for 23.5% of this year’s award winners.

A Rigorous Selection Process Supporting the Profile of Bourgogne’s AOCs

The selection is based on blind tastings conducted by expert panels comprising technical specialists, oenologists and wine industry professionals.

To qualify, a wine must achieve a minimum score of 16 out of 20 during the first tasting. It is then submitted to a “super jury”, which determines whether it merits a place in the Cave de Prestige. Only wines judged to be truly exceptional are selected.

In 2026, six tasting sessions were held, involving a total of 200 judges.

The 2023 vintage is once again the most widely represented, with 101 wines accounting for 53.7% of the selection—a result partly explained by the volumes produced that year.

The much rarer 2024 vintage ranks second, with 58 wines, or 30.8% of the collection.

One wine from the 2025 vintage also made the final selection. As the tastings take place in March, wines from this vintage had only exceptionally been bottled by that point.

The Many Faces of Bourgogne, from the Mâconnais to the Châtillonnais

The 57 wines from Régionale appellations demonstrate the diversity offered by this essential gateway into the world of Bourgogne wines:

• 28 Bourgogne and Mâcon plus a geographical denomination
• 20 Crémant de Bourgogne
• 9 Bourgogne, Bourgogne Aligoté or Coteaux Bourguignons wines

It is worth remembering that this category represents 50% of the total production of Bourgogne wines.

The geographical distribution of the award-winning producers reflects the collection’s strong regional roots:

• 15 producers from the Mâconnais
• 25 from the Côte Chalonnaise and Côtes du Couchois
• 55 from the Côte de Beaune and 16 from the Côte de Nuits
• 12 from Chablis, and 14 from the Grand Auxerrois
• 3 from the Châtillonnais
