On October 17, 1975, the “Crémant de Bourgogne” Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) was officially established, cementing the historic expertise of Bourgogne’s vineyards in crafting great sparkling wines since the 18th century. From the outset, its appellation decree—one of the most demanding in Bourgogne—set rigorous standards to ensure exemplary quality production.
Fifty years on, Crémant de Bourgogne has evolved with the times while remaining true to its roots. Today, it is present at every occasion, embodying both elegance and the conviviality of an exceptional sparkling wine.
To celebrate this half-century of sparkling excellence, the Union of Producers and Makers of Crémant de Bourgogne (UPECB) has created a unique program of events in tribute to this iconic appellation.
In 2025, let the celebrations begin! Between tribute and festivity, a sparkling year is in store—here’s a spotlight on three key moments.
An autumn celebration of 50 years of conviviality and effervescence
Every October, the Côte Chalonnaise comes alive with a not-to-be-missed event: the Paulée. A truly festive celebration, it brings together winemakers and wine brotherhoods to joyfully honor Bourgogne’s traditions. This year, the UPECB is joining forces with this major wine gathering to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Crémant de Bourgogne AOC during a special edition held in one of Crémant’s historical cradles.
In a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the Paulée festivities will offer visitors a three-day epicurean “marathon” filled with tastings, traditional entertainment, a banquet, and concerts. A highlight of the celebration will take place on Saturday, October 18, in front of the town hall, with a special focus on the appellation.
A fascinating dive into the history of Crémant de Bourgogne

Packed with vintage documents, anecdotes, bottle labels, and photographs, the book offers a deep and delightful immersion into the world of sparkling wine.
