Albert Bichot reveals his ‘Secret d'Océan’

On 18 January 2025, the cargo ship Grain de Sail II left the port of Saint-Malo with two 228-litre casks of Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay firmly moored to the deck.
With this expedition across the Atlantic Ocean, Albert Bichot wanted to study the impact of currents and sea variations on the wine, which is directly exposed to sea spray.
After a stopover in New York, the boat returned to Saint-Malo on March 21.

Terroir & Merroir

Using Onafis probes, Albert Bichot was able to collect data to study the oxygen levels, atmospheric pressure, humidity levels and internal and external temperatures of the casks on the boat and those in the cellar in Beaune.

Secret d'Océan, a unique sensory experience

The nose reveals a fine bouquet of white flowers and citrus fruit, which evolves delicately towards saline touches. On the palate, the wine is lively and dynamic. Minerality, tension and a hint of salinity provide superb balance.

A strong environmental commitment

Albert Bichot, which began its collaboration with Grain de Sail in 2024 by sending a range of wines to New York, wanted to continue developing its ecoresponsible dimension by creating an eco-designed bottle for the Secret d'Océan cuvée.
100% recyclable OBF cork: made from plastic waste diverted from the oceans and collected in areas close to the coast.
Light bottle: 540g instead of 580g
100% recyclable label: paper made from sugar cane residue which, instead of being incinerated, is recycled into a sustainable medium.

The cuvée is available for now in France from pre-order on the e-boutique in a limited edition of 600, while stocks last!
