Chablis Wine Competition 2026: 23 wines awarded
The 40th Chablis Wine Competition awarded 23 wines out of 233 samples.
Organized by the Chablis Office in partnership with the Bourgogne Wine Board, the 40th Chablis Wine Competition was held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, under the presidency of internationally renowned sommelier Julia Scavo.
This edition brought together 65 tasters tasked with evaluating the 2024 vintage for the Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Premier Cru appellations, as well as the 2023 vintage for the Chablis Grand Cru AOC. In total, 233 wines were tasted, representing 66 estates or wine merchants; only 23 wines were awarded.
The competition stands out for its two-stage tasting process: the highest-rated wines from the first phase advance to the Super Jury. Another distinguishing feature is that professionals submitting samples are not allowed to sit on the jury.
The tasters come from a wide range of backgrounds - journalists, restaurateurs, sommeliers, brokers, oenologists, winegrowers and informed amateurs - ensuring a plural and demanding assessment of the wines.
This competition provides a useful benchmark for industry professionals seeking to identify awarded cuvées and better understand the diversity of Chablis expressions.
If, in 2026, you have made the resolution to broaden your Bourgogne wine offering, you are in the right place. The Cave de Prestige selection is one of the key references on which you can rely.
This flagship blind tasting selection, organized by the Bourgogne Wine Board, is recognized for its rigor and, above all, for its openness to lesser-known Bourgogne appellations. It is an excellent resource for expanding your range or simply discovering appellations with which you may be less familiar.
Discover the brochure listing the full selection: 194 wines from 141 coops, wine merchants and estates, reflecting the full range of Bourgogne winegrowing areas.
A true showcase for Bourgogne wines, the Cave de Prestige supports the Bourgogne Wine Board’s initiatives throughout the year in France and internationally. It is a valuable resource for identifying new references and highlighting appellations that too often remain under the radar.

Maranges
Maranges in the spotlight at the Saint-Vincent Tournante.
For Saint-Vincent 2026, the Maranges appellation takes center stage.
Located at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune, on the border with the Côte Chalonnaise, it extends across the 3 villages of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. The appellation has been officially recognized as a Village appellation in 1988.
Produced predominantly as red wine, the Maranges AOC is distinguished by its ruby color and expressive aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate, the wines offer generous substance, supported by supple, warm tannins.
In white, the wines reveal notes of white flowers, sometimes complemented over time by hints of honey or flint, giving wines that are precise and well-balanced.
With food, Maranges reds naturally pair with poultry, red meats and lightly spiced dishes. Maranges whites match well with vegetable-based starters, simply pan-seared noble fish, or hard and semi-hard cheeses.
Bourgogne vs. Burgundy: to re-affirm their identity, the region and the producers are reverting back to the original French iteration of the name, Bourgogne.
