Domaine Henri GOUGES has been a family estate since 1919 and is one of the guardians of the Terroirs of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
It is the precious legacy of a visionary and passionate man, a fervent defender of Burgundy's heritage, a pioneer of estate bottling from the 1920s and President of the Syndicat de Défense des Grands Vins de Bourgogne.
Henri GOUGES, 1889-1967, was involved in the introduction of the Appellations d'Origine Contrôlées law and was one of the representatives of Burgundy winegrowing on the INAO Management Committee.
The estate's vineyards cover 14 hectares, exclusively in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and include 10 appellations, including 8 Premiers Crus, 2 Villages and 3 Bourgognes.
Today it is Grégory and Antoine, the fourth generation and great-grandsons of Henri, who are taking over the running of the estate and perpetuating its values in a way that is both environmentally aware and responsible. The entire vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. Favouring biodiversity, encouraging the vines to take root, encouraging the development of micro-organisms and studying the earth and its exchanges are the watchwords of this fourth generation, focused on the quality of the wines produced from our terroirs. Since its creation, the Domaine has been guided by one adage: "Great wines mature in the vineyard".
Since 2023, the Domaine has had its own "Maison", a cosy, quiet tasting room where visitors can, preferably by appointment, choose from a range of tasting formulas, create their own tastings (with a quotation) and, if booked in advance, enjoy aperitifs, lunches and a tasty menu concocted by a Burgundy chef.
3 tastings designed as stories invite you to discover us ("Découverte" 20€ / 3 wines, "Terroir" 45€ / 5 wines and "Authenticité" 75€ / 6 wines) - Details on our website: www.gouges.com
Open Monday afternoon to Saturday (10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm)
