Domaine Muzard Lucien et Fils

Us*

The Muzard estate belongs to a very old Santenoise family, where winegrowers have been passed down from father to son for nine generations (Jacques Muzard in 1645). Mr and Mrs Lucien Muzard structured the estate in the 1960s, first by renting the vines and then by buying them up one vineyard at a time.

Claude and Hervé Muzard, who will be joined in 2019 by Claude's daughter Capucine, now cultivate 20 hectares of vines spread over different climats in Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Pommard. The estate's overall production is 20% white wine.

The estate has retained traditional methods (harvesting by hand) while improving quality through new techniques (crate harvesting, sorting table, temperature control during vinification, etc.). All the wines are matured in oak barrels and casks, with 10-15% new barrels depending on the vintage, and the use of larger containers.
