A wine-grower in Burgundy in the Côte de Beaune in Monthélie, near Meursault and Volnay, I have been established in a 3-generations old business since 1990.
The Domaine Dujardin now covers 7 ha of “appellations d'origine controlees” (A.O.C.) and four villages in the heart of the Côte De Beaune:
- Monthelie, which provides red and white wines, well-rounded and delicate,
- Auxey-Duresses, mostly Chardonnay, full and smoky,
- Meursault, the birthplace of excellent white wines, well-rounded and powerful
- Beaune rouge, red wines, perfumed and fine.
With the aim of
respecting my production tools, I was amongst the very first to carry out environmentally-friendly practices on my vines (without using chemical fertilisers, weed killers or insecticides). Now, the Domaine Dujardin is certified as using “integrated pest management” without actually being organic.
The production on the estate remains family-sized. With an aim for quality, harvests are carried out by hand to ensure a qualitative selection. Production remains on a small scale: 35 hl/ha on average. Vinification is slow and maturing takes place in barrels (from 12 to 18 months for white wines and from 18 to 24 months for red wines). The Domaine Dujardin is now recognised by all of the profession, proven by a variety of awards and newspaper articles.
