Preheat your oven (210°C)
Cut the ham slices to the size of the toasts. Do the same with the Emmental cheese.
Butter the twelve slices of toast
To assemble, proceed as follows: A slice of toast, a slice of cheese, a slice of ham and cover with a new slice of sandwich bread, and repeat the operation
Add pepper and a pinch of grated nutmeg to each layer.
Finish the croque by covering the top slice with grated cheese.
Bake for 10 mn
You can vary the cheeses (ie. with Cheddar) and serve with a green salad.
