BELGIUM : Chablis and Marennes Oléron organise a contest in Brussels

On the occasion of the Seafood Expo in Brussels, the Bourgogne Wine Board and Marennes Oléron Oysters organise, on Wednesday the 22nd of April, a contest reserved to Belgian hotel management schools. The aim of this contest is to promote these two products to the future professionals and market influencers, and to bring them together by creating tailor-made food and wine pairings.

The 5 participating hotel management schools have all followed a training on Chablis wines and Marennes Oléron Oysters. During this event, by groups of 5 people, they create a recipe with Marennes Oléron Oysters which must be in harmony with a Chablis 1er Cru wine. The future chefs prepare live the recipes which are then served by the future head waiters while the future sommeliers serve and comment the Chablis Premier Cru wines and the food and wine pairing. The fifty guests presents at the event, all wine and food professionals, are then invited to vote for the best pairing proposed.

This event is also the occasion to taste and enjoy raw Marennes Oléron Oysters, Fine de Claire, Fine de Claire Verte and Spéciale de Claire, and to savour the whole Chablis wines range, from Petit Chablis to Chablis Grand Cru.

This contest is organised at the same time as Brussels’ Seafood Expo, the world’s largest seafood trade fair reserved to professionals and journalists, which takes place from the 21st to the 23rd April. You can find Chablis Wines during these three days at the stand they share with their partners, the Marennes Oléron Oysters.
