The GJPV Young Talents Trophies

The Young Professionals of the Vines (GJPV) rewarded the Young Talents Trophies 2020 for Bourgogne and Beaujolais!

On Tuesday 2nd February, the organization awarded seven Trophies to young winemakers.

The 7 laureates of 2020, are all under 40 ans or started their business less than 5 years ago:

  • Valentin VERNIN, Domaine Houblin-Vernin in Migé - Trophée Grand Auxerrois
  • Fabien DAUVISSAT, Domaine Jean DAUVISSAT in Chablis - Trophée Chablisien
  • François AMBROISE, Maison AMBROISE Frère & Sœur in Premeaux-Prissey - Trophée Côte de Nuits
  • William WATERKEYN, Domaine JESSIAUME in Santenay - Trophée Côte de Beaune
  • Félix DEBAVELAERE, Domaine des ROIS MAGES in Rully - Trophée Côte Chalonnaise
  • Elodie BRENOT BERANGER, Domaine DE NAISSE in Laizé - Trophée Mâconnais
  • Benoît ROCHE, Domaine du Champ de la Croix in Denicé - Trophée Beaujolais

For this 32nd edition, a jury of 50 wine industry professionals selected this year’s winners from the participants during a blind tasting. The first step of selection yook plane in Beine (Chablis) on the 15th October. Each candidate presented three different appellations from the 2018 vintage.

The actual pandemic has disrupted the usual organization: The final tasting and the award ceremony could not take place during the Hospices de Beaune wine auction weekend (mid-November) as usual. But, the selflessness of the team of volunteers resulted in a successful edition in early 2021, despite the sanitary constraints.

This final step took place on 2nd February, under the patronage of Beatrice Delamotte, a French journalist for Le Figaro and Cuisine et Vins de France; accompanied by Christophe Macra, Master of Wine and a famous wine shop owner in Paris (l’Apogé).

The GJPV was created in 1959 to bring together young winemakers and help promote their skills. It has some 130 members, of all ages and all trades, across the whole of Bourgogne and Beaujolais vineyards.
