On the occasion of the Grands Jours de Bourgogne, the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne is unveiling several major developments designed to further enrich the experience offered to French and international visitors.
Opened in 2023, the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne was born from a collective project supported by the entire Bourgogne wine industry. Located in Beaune, Chablis and Mâcon, it invites visitors to explore Bourgogne through three complementary sites, each deeply rooted in its territory.
Throughout the visitor journey, guests discover how geography, the Climats of Bourgogne – listed as UNESCO World Heritage – and centuries of know-how shape the wines of Bourgogne. Interactive installations, immersive projections and sensory experiences punctuate the visit.
Designed as a key reference point for discovering and understanding Bourgogne wines, the Cité welcomes wine lovers, curious travellers and professionals from around the world for an experience that is both engaging and accessible. Today, it stands as a must-visit destination for tourism in Bourgogne.
The Beaune site is inaugurating a new immersive area dedicated to the presence of Bourgogne wines around the world.
Despite representing only 0.5% of global wine production, the vineyard exports one out of every two bottles, illustrating its remarkable international reach.
From the poetry of Alphonse de Lamartine to international series such as Drops of God, and even unexpected references in The Simpsons, visitors discover how Bourgogne wines appear in global culture, travel across time and become part of a shared imagination far beyond the vineyard.
The experience now concludes on the fourth floor, at the panoramic restaurant Les Accords, where the tasting included in the visit takes place.
Overlooking the city of Beaune and the Côte de Beaune vineyards, visitors can discover an expanded selection of wines, with the opportunity to explore food and wine pairings offered on site.
From this vantage point, the landscape offers a new perspective on the wines being tasted: the vineyard stretches to the horizon, naturally connecting the glass to the territory.
The Cité is also strengthening opportunities for direct encounters with winegrowers.
On selected Saturdays and during afterwork events, producers will take over the tasting areas to present their cuvées, speak with visitors and offer their wines for sale.
A unique opportunity to hear the stories behind the bottles and engage directly with the men and women who shape the vineyard.
Scenographic displays, immersive experiences, panoramic tastings and encounters with producers: the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne offers a contemporary and sensory exploration of one of the world’s most emblematic vineyards.
Through these new developments, the Cité reaffirms its mission: inviting visitors to understand, experience and taste Bourgogne wines.
More than an exhibition space, it is a place of discovery, encounters and shared experiences at the heart of the vineyard.
