This Sunday, March 8, 2026, the 65th Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wine auction, organized by IdealWine, was held at the Château du Clos de Vougeot. This auction was the last for estate manager Jean-Marc Moron, who is retiring after 35 years of service to the wines of the Côte de Nuits and handing over the estate to Laurence Danel, the new manager.
The sale covered 80.5 barrels. The overall result of the sale of the 2025 vintage amounts to €1.526 million, for an average price per barrel of €18,600 (excluding the white wine barrel), figures logically showing an increase (+91.7%) compared to the previous edition, which was historically low, with only 35.5 barrels sold.
These results reflect a certain calming of the markets despite cautious pricing. Indeed, the 2025 vintage in Bourgogne is unfolding in a context marked by both limited yields and a more hesitant international wine market. The attractiveness of all appellations, including Villages, at consistent prices, is nonetheless encouraging for the industry and for market dynamics. This edition underscores the importance of benchmark events such as the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wine auction in promoting wines and supporting the growth of the appellations.
The "Cuvée des Bienfaiteurs” whose proceeds go to Ani'nomade, raised €59,500 thanks to the generosity of numerous donors. The association works with various vulnerable populations, leveraging the benefits of the human-animal bond to promote well-being, social connection, and therapeutic support. More information about the association can be found by clicking on this link. This year, the “Cuvée des Bienfaiteurs” was a single barrel of Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru, the result of blending the nine Premier Cru vineyards of the Domaine des Hospices de Nuits. The 290 bottles that comprise it were sold, as is tradition, through a subscription.
This year, Maison Albert Bichot acquired six barrels, which it will age with the utmost care in its cellars. True to its commitment to the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Maison continues its support of this iconic institution of Bourgogne's heritage. Renowned for its cultural and heritage dedication, Maison Albert Bichot is among the Hospices de Nuits-Saint- Georges' long-standing supporters.
