The 2020 Spring Tastevinage Selection unveiled at the Château du Clos de Vougeot

The 105th edition of the Tastevinage, temporarily postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, was held at the Château du Clos de Vougeot last Friday May 29th under special conditions, in conformity with current health and safety requirements. A much reduced – but no less expert – jury of wine-industry professionals selected from the 658 Burgundy wines submitted those most truly representative of their appellations and vintages. The winning laureates received the Tastevinage seal of approval: a guarantee of quality, authenticity and enjoyment.

Despite every aspect of the event having to be re-thought, all the tasters were pleased with the Tastevinage’s new format.

The results of the 105th Tastevinage

In the course of the 105th edition, the expert palates of the reduced panel of seventy-five judges – growers, sommeliers, brokers, buyers, journalists and influencers – evaluated the 658 burgundies in a blind winetasting at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the hallowed centre of Burgundy’s winegrowing and cultural heritage.

Out of all the wines presented on Friday the 29th of May, only 221, or 32% of the total, were deemed fit by the jury to receive the coveted Tastevinage seal. The laureates included 67 Regional Appellations, 78 Village Appellations and 67 Premier and Grand Crus – an endorsement of the Tastevinage’s mission to promote all Burgundy’s wines whatever the status of their appellation.
