La Cité des Vins de Bourgogne: A project supported by the entire industry!


La Cité des Vins de Bourgogne is taking shape through a range of educational, cultural, financial and operational models that are being developed through various working committees.

It will meet the needs of all visitors - long-term fans of the Bourgogne winegrowing region and newcomers alike - and will offer visitors a new way to experience Bourgogne wines: to see, touch, feel, sample and taste, thanks to a range of complementary approaches:
 
  • Sharing the keys to Bourgogne wines in a modern, fun and dynamic way
    Bourgogne wines have certain special characteristics that make them unique and inimitable. Their history, this fabulous region shaped by people, a rich patchwork of terroirs, the Climats, the grape varietals, the different work in the vines, the men and women who make them, the subtlety and elegance of the vines, conviviality – all this and more will be on show at the Cité des Vins de Bourgogne!
  • Encouraging visitors to fully profit from the wealth of wine-related tourism activities on offer in the region and to head off to explore the vineyards and make their way back through the Mâconnais, the Grand Auxerrois, or perhaps the Côte Chalonnaise.
Across more than 4,000m², the Cité des Vins de Bourgogne will offer:
  • A fun, interactive, and resolutely contemporary visitor experience that will last between 90 minutes and three hours
  • Bourgogne wine training sessions and Masterclasses offered by the École des Vins de Bourgogne
  • A program of special events, with entertainment, conferences, films, lectures, conferences and seminars
  • A bar and restaurant for discovering new food and wine combinations
  • A gift shop and specialist bookstore
  • A next-generation platform for wine-related tourism information to accompany visitors, guide them through the region according to their preferences, and provide all the information they need to facilitate their stay. This tool will also help promote the Vignobles & Découvertes label, those service providers who have signed up to the De Vignes en Caves scheme, and the Bourgogne Wine Trails, as well as a range of other wine-related events, celebrations and historical sites.
The Cité des Vins de Bourgogne is a regional project that will operate as a network.
The primary hub of the Cité des Vins de Bourgogne in Beaune will operate in conjunction with several other sites across the Bourgogne winegrowing region (Chablis Grand Auxerrois - Mâconnais), thus covering the whole region. The hubs will operate as a network, with each one offering a dynamic showcase for the local area, with different yet complementary propositions.
