Late January: 5th edition of the St-Vincent de Bourgogne in Gevrey

This wine-making festival rhythmed by the customs and traditions of Burgundy folklore was held in Gevrey-Chambertin for the first time in 1947, and since, the celebration of the patron saint of wine growers has been welcomed here almost every twenty years, with the last Saint Vincent in this village dating back to the year 2000. 

Gevrey-Chambertin is overflowing with superlatives as its history and its heritage linked to wine is rich and unique. The largest vineyard of the Côte-d’Or with its 550 hectares, the name of Gevrey-Chambertin resonates throughout the world and time.  “The wine of kings, the king of wines”, sanctified by Victor Hugo, enjoyed by Napoléon, the Chambertin stands at the top of the wine pyramid, supported by eight other Grands Crus, made only in Bourgogne!

This great weekend of the Saint Vincent Tournante begins Saturday morning with about one hundred banners and statues of the Saint Vincent parading across village. This procession is marked by a tribute to war memorials and will end at the church for a religious ceremony. 
 

The commemorations then give way to the festivities – folk troupes, street artists, brass concerts – organized throughout the entire village decorated for the occasion with thousands of colors boasting the chosen theme: the aromas of Pinot Noir. At the end of the morning, for the great pleasure of the visitors, the tasting cellars will open their doors and propose a discovery tasting of cuvées specially produced for the occasion in 5 vintages: 2009, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018.
