The 60th Hospices de Nuits wine auction will be held on Sunday, March 14 at the Château du Clos-de-Vougeot and will offer 114 pieces for sale.
The sale will be proceed by Maitre Hugues Cortot, auctioneer in Dijon. A pre-registration with the auction house is set up, in order to facilitate the bidding and the sale process.
The 2020 vintage, of excellent quality, allows to offer 114 pièces (228-liter Burgundy barrel) for sale: 112 pièces of red wine for 18 different cuvées and 2 pieces of white wine. The wines are all from the Côte de Nuits, in particular the Nuits-Saint Georges AOC.
Erik Orsenna, ambassador of the Institut Pasteur and the international network of the Institut Pasteur, will be the patron of this 60th edition. He will attend the sale, alongside the bidders and representatives of the Hospices.
Like the Hospices de Beaune, the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges supports a charity each year by donating the profits from the sale of a pièce (barrel) of wine: the Charity Pièce. This year, it is a pièce of Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Les Saint-Georges, Vieilles Vignes. The money collected will be donated to the Pasteur Institute. The Charity Pièce will be sold by subscription for the third consecutive year.
The Institut Pasteur is a private foundation recognized as being of public utility, which depends in part on private generosity. Its major mission is the prevention and fight against diseases, in France and around the world.
