Events: Save the date

  • Sunday, April 19, 2026 - World Heritage in celebration! The 9 Unesco sites in the region celebrate World Heritage

The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region is fortunate to have 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites. For the first time, these 9 sites are offering a common day of discovery. For the Climats de Bourgogne, the meeting is at the foot of the Montagne de Beaune and its Premiers Crus. On the programme: a walk in the vineyards punctuated by 10 educational panels, ending with a tasting and discovery of Beaune wines. A booklet of riddles with the family, games for young and old around the World Heritage, meeting winegrowers... will also be available on site.

  • May  2026 - A great pedagogical day bringing together 331 students, at the Château du Clos de Vougeot

Building on the success of the 2025 edition, created on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of registration, this event will once again bring together 14 classes for a day of workshops at the Château du Clos de Vougeot (emblematic cultural place of the Climats). 331 students are expected, from different schools in the registered territory (36 kindergarten students, 148 primary school students, and 147 middle school students). Over the course of a day rich in activities, they will be able to participate in a dozen workshops around biodiversity, heritage, landscape and the history of the Climats designed with a variety of partner speakers.
This day will also mark the culmination of a year of work around the projects "Regards sur les Climats" and "Climats en mots" in which each class will present the work created.

  • June and July 2026 - The Summer of the Climats: Cultural events to discover the heritage and wine-growing landscapes of the listed site!

The “Climats’Month festival” is taking a break this year, to reinvent itself in 2027. However, we won't be bored this summer since the unmissable events will still be there: the "undeground visits" and the incredible tours in the bowels of the cellars of Beaune and Dijon; the "Apéros avec VUE" with 3 new events combining heritage discovery, wine tasting and gourmet picnics and finally the "village walks" offering an immersion in the landscape and architectural history of a village on the World Heritage site.

4 MAJORS PROJECTS IN 2026

To protect, preserve and promote the Climats world heritage site

  • PRESERVATION

CONTINUING TO RESTORE OUR WINEGROWING HERITAGE
Low walls, stone huts, enclosure gates, stairways and roadside crosses all contribute to the landscape identity of the Climats vignoble de Bourgogne. The 220 km of low walls that delineate the Climats are useful for growing vines, keeping the soil alive and fighting erosion. When made of dry stone, they provide shelter for plants and wildlife. In seven years, the Fonds Patrimoine (Heritage Fund) has backed over 260 projects, restored 8,2 km of stone walls and 17 huts and trained more than 270 winegrowing and winemaking students. Supported by international donors with a passion for heritage, the fund provides up to 50% of the cost of work on selected projects, with a maximum of €25,000 per project.

  • RESEARCH

REVEAL THE HISTORY OF EACH WINE VILLAGE through 40 monographs
Every village tells its own story. Research on the vineyards, geology, heritage, toponymy, Climats, legends and people of the Climats aims to gather a range of data from a variety of sources in order to produce a resource document for each of the 40 villages and towns.
Funded by the DRAC and overseen by a dedicated scientific committee, the work will result in books and presentations to the public.

  • SCHOOLS

AN AMBITIOUS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM for students from kindergarten to higher education
Born in 2024, the educational program "Regards sur les Climats" continues. Its ambition: to bring out original and lively projects by class or school to raise awareness among the youngest of the richness of the heritage of the Climats. Throughout the year, 10 winning classes are supported on a project dedicated to the Climates, alternating classroom work, visits and outings on site, artistic or educational speakers. In addition to this program, there is a residency work carried out with the children's author Pierre Gemme with 4 nursery and primary classes offering interventions all year round to create a collective travel diary in the Land of Climates: due on June 25, 2026!

  • A WINE CELLAR INVENTORY

A HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL RESEARCH PROGRAMME
After an experiment at the Hospices de Beaune on geo-referencing and 3D modelling of wine cellars, the aim now is to enhance the surveys with historical and archival data. A research programme under the supervision of a doctoral student will be launched to better understand and maintain this outstanding heritage.

The Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne UNESCO World Heritage Site

On 4 July 2015, the Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne were inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List as a "cultural landscape", i.e. "combined works of nature and humankind". The Côtes de Nuits and Beaune Climats vineyards were listed by virtue of being a model of terroir-based viticulture. The inscription also includes the cultural and heritage features marking the thousand-year history of wine-making in this area. Thus, UNESCO has recognised the culture, expertise and heritage of the wine-making villages and the historic centres of Beaune and Dijon.

Since the inscription, our association has aimed to protect, promote and preserve this outstanding site with awareness-raising drives and a management plan in cooperation with the State, local authorities and wine professionals.
