17th&18th June: inaugural weekend for the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne

WE inaugural cité de Beaune

Following the opening of the Cité in Mâcon (3rd May) and Chablis (17th May), the one of the Cité in Beaune (17th June) will mark the opening of the entire network of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne. The inauguration for the general public will be on the 17th and 18th of June in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon.

This weekend follows from two days (June 16th & 17th) dedicated to professionals, during which distinguished guests from all over the world are invited to bear witness to Bourgogne’s model of terroir-based viticulture.

Detailed programme for the weekend

  • Multisensory visitor trail – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    Discover the incredible history of Bourgogne’s vineyards with a multisensory visit.
  • Guided tours – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    Every hour, guided tours leave from the reception area – surprise themes.
  • Retrospective photo exhibition – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    Step back in time and delve into in the secrets of the Cité’s construction...
  • Tasting workshops – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    Awaken your senses by attending an initiation workshop with a tutored tasting of Bourgogne wines.
  • Meet the winegrowers – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    An exciting opportunity to meet our winegrowers, who will serve their wines accompanied by gourmet bites.
  • Entertainment in our boutiques – Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon
    Meet local craftsmen at each of the Cité’s shops.

World Heritage in focus

Discover the World Heritage sites of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region with the aid of virtual reality animations and an interactive game about the 9 sites classified in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Discuss UNESCO’s classification of Bourgogne’s vineyard Climats with experts along the visitor trail.

Climats in focus

Climb the exterior ramp to access the top floor, from where you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the vineyards. At the very top, the Belvedere offers a panoramic view of the Côte de Beaune and an expert will be on hand to share the history of the Climats and reveal the secrets of the landscape.

A special programme just for kids!
Cité in Chablis, Beaune and Mâcon

  • VISITOR TRAIL: children benefit from a specially conceived visitor trail, animated by cabottes or cadoles (small winegrowers' huts), which play host to fun activities related to the history of Bourgogne’s vineyards.
  • FAMILY ACTIVITIES: Reinvent your own Climat – Discover the vineyards of Bourgogne and reinvent its most original Climats (les Grenouilles, les Amoureuses, Clos du Roi, etc.) with an artistic activity.
  • PAIRING FOOD WITH FRUIT JUICES: tasting of sweet and savoury bites with different fruit juices.
  • GAMES BOOKLET: children will be given a games booklet to add fun to their Cité experience. After completing it and solving the puzzle, they will receive a little surprise!
