The 2018 vintage: An ideal vintage

What a satisfaction! After several years of harvests impacted by the vagaries of the weather, this 2018 vintage provokes a rare enthusiasm, from North to South of Bourgogne. The unusual weather of the year that turned to exceptional during the harvest, favored a perfect sanitary condition and explains that the harvest was spread over almost a month.
The first wines tasted are delicious. Incredibly balanced in white as in red, they promise a great vintage.
To tell the epic of 2018, we called on 3 professionals:
- Francine Picard, Maison Famille Picard, Chassagne-Montrachet
- Sophie Cinier, Domaine Sophie Cinier, Fuissé
- Jean-Philippe Archambaud, Maison Simonnet-Febvre, Chablis
Water and heat were two important components of the year. Benjamin Bois, lecturer in viticulture and climatology at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon, explains why, despite the heat wave and drought, 2018 ends looking as an ideal vintage.
