Maison Magnien Frédéric

*FREDERIC MAGNIEN*
Born in Burgundy, Frédéric is the 5th generation of wine-growers of the Magnien family in Morey-Saint-Denis. He learned about the vines from his father Michel Magnien before going to California to broaden his knowledge, working for Josh Jensen on the Calera estate. He continued his training in Australia at Bannock Burn Vineyards then returned to France where he obtained a diploma in oenology at the university of Dijon.
In 1995, he made one of the most important decisions of his life by creating a Wine Merchants under his name: FREDERIC MAGNIEN.
His aim is to first of all select plots of essentially old vines (over 40 years) in order to harvest grapes of very high quality, at optimal maturity, amongst the greatest appellations of the Côte de Nuits. Then he vinifies them in the same conditions and with the same philosophy so that the appellations express their true difference without material and human influence.

His philosophy: “The perfect, pure translation of the greatest “Terroirs” of Burgundy”
The constant research for quality and the respect for the “Terroirs” has led to us to an organic future. The Maison Frédéric Magnien has invested in this approach to produce wines of exceptional purity. Since 1996, all the stages of vinification have been regulated by the lunar cycle. Some of our products have been certified organic since 2008 and many others will be certified in future. The great "Terroir" wines should be organic!

*MICHEL MAGNIEN*
From a very old Burgundy family, Michel Magnien is the 4th wine-growing generation of the Magnien family in Morey-Saint-Denis. His father, Bernard Magnien, passed him down his knowledge and his love of the “Terroirs” of Burgundy. From 1967 to 1991, Michel Magnien and his wife acquired a number of plots in the greatest “Climats” of the Côte de Nuits and deliver the majority of their wines to the cooperatives. They grow, tend to and harvest their wines themselves, respecting traditions and with a permanent view to exceptional quality. In 1993, Michel Magnien, encouraged by his son Frédéric, decided to bottle his wines, in order to guarantee a complete, optimum product.
Today, the Domaine Michel Magnien et Fils has 14 ha of vines in Grand Crus, Premier Crus, village and regional appellations. The attention that Michel Magnien has always paid to his vines and the prestigious appellations that he owns, provide unique wines that are faithful to the great Burgundy “Terroirs”.

His philosophy: “Excellence and respect for Burgundy”

Since 2008, the estate has completely adopted organic farming and respects the process of certification controlled by Ecocert for authentic wines and for our children! The respect of the “Terroirs” and the environment is a daily priority for us.
